LEOTC procurement rounds – How do they work?

We are changing how we engage LEOTC providers. We’d like students to be able to engage in learning experiences that are not tied to a single learning area of the curriculum, and we’d like them to be able to explore learning opportunities that build on their identities, languages and cultures. We want to strengthen local and regional involvement and local providers.

To enable this change, we will not be procuring new LEOTC services until 2021 for the 2022 school year. We will extend current contracts so that all contracts end in December 2021.

In 2021, we will be seeking providers for LEOTC across the national curriculum rather than the current subject-based rolling cycle. Providers will be able to deliver their programmes to support the achievement of broader curriculum outcomes (rather than specific learning areas). This model will support more integrated learning experiences for students and support the intent of locally developed curriculum and Marautanga ā-Kura.

We are still in the early stages of considering the redesign process and timelines Including future funding rounds and application opening dates. We expect this information to be available in the next few months.
